Global Goals Cycle

Maurice Hurley, a former teacher, has completed an epic cycle around Ireland to promote the Global Goals. In total, he cycled 2,200km, following a round route along the Irish coast. During his travels, he visited four GLP Schools! Maurice was trying to reach as many schools as possible during the journey so he could chat directly with pupils about the Global Goals.
Workshops on STEM for a Fair and Sustainable World

How can pupils be taught about global issues through STEM? This question was explored at our two joint workshops with Practical Action. Held in Belfast and Bellaghy, these workshops gave 40 teachers and educators a chance to try out classroom activities which encourage pupils to come up with STEM solutions to real world problems.
Eco-Schools Celebration Day

The GLP team joined a special Eco-Schools Celebration Day on Oxford Island. During the event, we got to see some wonderful displays from local GLP Schools. Teachers and pupils were there to show-off their super green flag projects.
Global Learning Week at St Kieran's
St Kieran’s Primary School dedicated an entire week to global learning as part of its involvement in the GLP. Everyone explored a foreign country AND one of the new Global Goals agreed by world leaders in 2015, with the work tailored to be appropriate to each year group and class. The week culminated in a special Global Learning Day, which the GLP team was invited to attend!

GLP School Christ the Redeemer Primary invited us to a brilliant inter-faith celebration with Oakwood Integrated Primary. A key message of the event was the need for us all to come together to make the world better. The GLP team left feeling inspired! The celebration was held as part of an IEF-funded project, which saw pupils visit places where they could learn about other cultures.
The World’s Largest Lesson

Many GLP Schools got involved in the World’s Largest Lesson this year. They joined educators across the world in raising awareness of the new Global Goals among children and young people. The GLP had a great day at #EduFestNI in Culleybackey College, showcasing our programme to teachers and schools from across NI. #EduFestNI was a chance for teachers to get together and learn from one another at an event organised by teachers for teachers!
Green Day at Ulidia

GLP School Ulidia Integrated College invited Acorn Integrated Primary to join its 8th annual Green Day event. Green Day is a whole school day of action with a big focus on the environment. Learners are encouraged to think about the global implications of their actions and to make positive decisions regarding their environment.
Corrymeela Global Learning Days

Two action-packed global learning days for P7 pupils were organised by St Patrick's and St Brigid's Primary School at Corrymeela, Ballycastle. The GLP School came together for the events with its shared education partner, Ballycastle Integrated Primary School. The first day was centred around an international café, where pupils met people from different cultures. We were lucky enough to be invited to the second day, during which pupils engaged in a variety of global learning activities.
Global Question Time

Sixth formers from four GLP Schools joined the debate at this Stormont event organised by CADA to bring first time and future voters together with MLAs, NGO representatives & business leaders.
