Concern Debates 2017-18: Call for volunteer adjudicators

10 August, 2017

Concern is seeking good listeners who can see different points of view to join its panel of adjudicators at the Concern Debates 2017/8.

This debate series will give GCSE and A Level pupils in Northern Ireland the opportunity to discuss real life development issues and in the process gain the skills necessary to formulate an argument, deliver a speech, stand up for their point of view and challenge their opponents’ opinions. Schools in the Republic of Ireland will also be taking part.

Training will be provided to anyone who volunteers as an adjudicator on how to understand the debate marking scheme. By volunteering, you will help students enhance their transferable skills in research, analytical thought and public speaking.

The debates will last one hour each and take place between October 2017 and May 2018 at schools in the evening after work. To get involved, please email debatesni@concern.net or call 028 9026 1524 before Friday 15th September 2017.
