Switch-Off Fortnight
16 November, 2017
Save energy at your school and teach pupils about sustainable living by participating in Switch-Off Fortnight this term.
Switch-Off Fortnight is an annual initiative organised by EDF Energy, which encourages schools to cut their energy consumption and reduce their energy bills through classroom based-learning. It has been running for the last nine years. This year, it will take place between 20 November and 3 December.
The initiative is intended to link into the national curriculum, with a variety of school resources available to make learning about energy fun and engaging for all learners.
The scheme has also been designed with the Eco-Schools Award in mind and can be used as evidence for your Green Flag application. Participation will also compliment your school’s global learning work, particularly if pupils are already looking at environmental issues or sustainability.
It’s free for schools to get involved - all you have to do is register here. This will give you access to all of the campaign resources.
A massive two thousand schools are already planning to switch off this year!
