Clarawood Special School - Greenhouse project

Location: Clarawood Park, Belfast, BT5 6FR

Entry Date: 17 November 2017

A group of Clarawood pupils with various educational needs engaged in a hands-on project to construct a greenhouse using plastic bottles, learning valuable life skills along the way. Working with their teacher, they managed each stage of the project, including sourcing and cleaning the building materials. They also engaged in problem-solving whenever the project ran into difficulties with construction. Links were made with the local community, with people happily donating bottles and other resources for the pupils to use. A local garden centre even provided seeds and compost so they could begin growing plants in and around the greenhouse.

We’ve written a more detailed case study on Clarawood, which you can read via this link.
