Kirkinriola Primary School – Outdoor learning
Location: 5 Clougher Road, Ballymena, BT43 6TB
Entry Date: 20 November 2017
A small rural school found just outside Ballymena, Kirkinriola Primary School maximises opportunities for outdoor learning. It is a recognised Forest School with a dedicated woodland area, which is often used for activities that require pupils to develop and apply their problem solving and creative thinking skills. Learners of all ages are encouraged to be reflective in the woodland area and consider how they and others experience the outdoors.
Further information about the Forest School programme in Northern Ireland is available from the initiative’s website, www.nifsa.org.uk. Learn more about Kirkinriola’s global learning work by reading our case study on the school.
