In literacy, a rainforest topic was combined with newspaper report-writing. Pupils researched deforestation, a major threat to the future of Earth's rainforests. They created a ‘chain of participants’ so they could understand the multiple perspectives of the various people involved in the process of deforestation. They were then asked to write a report based on their findings, as if they were an investigative journalist. This gave them a more in-depth and involved perspective on the key issues at hand.
